Fire Door - Automatic Closing - Keep Clear Sign
$3.00 (inc GST)
Fire Door / Smoke Control Door labels. Complying with NZ Building Code F8/AS1 Third Edition.
These are required under Building Code Document F8/AS1 to be affixed to a fire door which forms part of a fire wall within a building. The label is required to be placed on each side of each door leaf at or above the door handle (a double door requires 4 labels). Fire doors are required to close and latch shut and are labelled as such to prevent occupants from wedging a fire door open or obstructing an automatic door from closing correctly.
Please ensure the appropriate label is fitted to the door. Fire Doors will have automatic closers and often have intumescent seals inside the door frame. Each fire door should have a metal tag on the door and on the door frame identifying the rating of the doorset. A rating of - / - / - SM is a smoke control door, but the presence of any numbers in the places of the dashes in the rating (eg - / 30 / 30 / SM) means the door is a fire door. If in doubt contact our compliance team who can assist with identification of doorsets.
Appropriate signage is:
- FIRE DOOR - Please Keep Closed - this is affixed to a standard fire door.
- FIRE DOOR - Automatic Closing Keep Clear - this is affixed to an automatic fire door which has an approved hold open device which will release the door when a fire is detected
- SMOKE CONTROL DOOR - Please Keep Closed - this is affixed to a standard smoke control door
- SMOKE CONTROL DOOR - Automatic Closing Keep Clear - this is affixed to an automatic smoke control door which has an approved hold open device which will release the door when a fire is detected
